Deklan was absolutely perfect! He had lots of fuzzy hair! Deklans’ arrival was long awaited and he had lots of visitors in the hospital. After 2 nights in the hospital, we were so glad when we got to take our little boy home.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy was wonderful! I loved every minute of it. It was so much fun when we were able to start feeling the baby move. The ultrasounds were amazing! Nine months flew by. I was learning a new job and it seemed to keep my mind preoccupied.

A few days before our baby was due, the doctor informed us that I would need to have a caesarian. On March 2, 2011, Nate and I checked into the hospital at 5:30 am. The nursed hooked me up to a bunch of machines, asked a bunch of questions and at 8:00 am, they wheeled me into the operating room. Within about 5 minutes I couldn’t feel anything below my chest and then they brought Nate into the room. He and I were just talking about how excited and nervous we were, then all of the sudden, we heard a baby cry. We were totally caught of guard. Neither one of us were expecting it to happen that fast.

Deklan Nathan Jensen was born at 8:21 am.

Now that is the way to have a baby, I didn’t even break a sweat.

Deklan weighed 8lbs 8 oz and was 21 inches long.

What is next??

It was time to start our family. I had always had dreams of being a mom and I knew that Nate would be a wonderful dad.

A few months later, we found out that we were expecting and were so excited.

Breaking the news

It was so fun to tell our families about the new baby. Nate’s brother and his family were coming to visit from South Dakota and so we waited until his whole family was together to tell them. All the adults went out to dinner at the new Thai restaurant in town. Nate and I had worked for days before on our plan to break the news. We bought fortune cookies, removed the fortune and replaced it with our own special message. This was no easy task. I think we went through 40 fortune cookies just to get 10 that weren’t broken. Then we had to carefully reseal the packages so that they would have no idea. When the waitress delivered the cookies to our table, everyone looked a little confused. ~Thai restaurants don’t serve fortune cookies, but they all dug in anyways. Everyone was so excited! The waitress and a few other employees knew what was going on so they shared in our excitement as well.

I found an adorable book about going to Grandma’s house and how much grandmas love their grandkids and gave it to my mom. All the grandkids were there with most of my siblings. She read the book to all of us and on the last page of the book was our first ultrasound picture. Everyone was so excited! My mom and I shared some tears of joy together, this was something that her and I had talked about and dreamed about for many years.

I promised a few people that I would start a blog when I had something to write about. So here is a brief overview of the past 4 years.

In the spring of 2007, Nate and I met in our singles ward. We were first asked to speak in Sacrament meeting together and then were called to serve in similar callings. I remember it like it was yesterday. We were at a FamilyHome Evening activity when Nate approached me and asked me on a date. Of course I accepted. We exchanged phone numbers and went our separate ways. I was absolutely smitten. I was so excited, I could hardly contain myself. I went home and immediately called my mom to tell her my exciting news.

Our first date was April 6, 2007. We went to dinner, then miniature golfing ( I won) and then we went and had ice cream. We were enjoying each others company so much, that after ice cream, we decided to see a movie. Wild Hogswas the movie, itwas great! After the movie, Nate took me home and like a gentleman, walked me to my door and told me that he had a wonderful time and that he would like to go out again. The feelings were mutual. I had such a wonderful time that the next day I hunted all over town for a movie that I knew he wanted to watch and then invited him over to watch it.

We saw each other everyday after that. It didn’t take long before we were head-over- heels in love with each other. Really, it didn’t take long. Nate asked me to marry him on May 25, 2007. Just a month and a half after our first date. When it’s right, it’s right! I’ll share the proposal story another day.

We set the wedding date for mid July and started planning. Most of the planning was already done, I had been working on it since I was 5 years old, so it was just a matter of pulling all together. Our families were amazing helping us get it together. My mom started sewing right away, she made my wedding dress, my temple dress, 3 bridemaids dresses and 8 flower girl dresses and her own dress in a about 6 weeks. My dad, did a yard makeover so that we could have the reception in their back yard. Nate’s mom baked enough cheesecake for an entire army and Nate’s dad planned most of honeymoon. We put Natalie, Nate’s sister to work as our photographer.

July 21st was a beautiful day. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and the reception was amazing. Everything went smoothly. The only thing that went wrong was that I left my veil at the temple. Oh well, it was still perfect.

Nate and I honeymooned in Kauai. It is the most beautiful place on earth. We loved it there.
